Things to Do in Delray Beach: Add a Little Color to Your Day
A beach day is always tempting. But sometimes your Delray Beach plans need a little more color: something hands-on, somewhere to catch up, or an activity that makes everyone put their phone down for a while. If you’re looking for things to do in Delray Beach, build your day around a mix of downtown exploring and time to create.
At Pottery U Paint Delray, we’re a little biased toward paintbrushes. Our studio at 7 S. Swinton Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33444, next to Tin Roof, is a place to pick a piece of pottery, choose your colors, and make something your own. One rule, just have fun.
1. Paint your own pottery in downtown Delray Beach
Pottery painting gives your outing a project without turning it into homework. Choose a piece that catches your eye, think up a design—or start with your favorite color—and enjoy the process. A mug can become a gift. A seasonal piece can become a family tradition. And a slightly wobbly stripe can become your signature style.
You don’t need painting experience to get started. Ask our team for help choosing colors and understanding the finishing and pickup process for your piece before you paint, especially if you’re visiting from out of town.
Ordinary table reservations are free; pottery is purchased separately. Our table reservations are for two hours, subject to availability, with up to 20 guests per reservation. Party and event bookings have separate arrangements. Plan your pottery painting visit, or call (561) 857-1500 for help.
2. Make it a family outing
When everyone wants something different, giving each person their own pottery project can be a happy compromise. One child can go all-in on rainbow colors while a grown-up paints a calmer design at the same table. Choose pieces with your group’s ages, attention spans, and budget in mind.
Keep the rest of the day simple: a meal, a little exploring, and time to paint. For birthdays, use our Delray Beach birthday party page rather than an ordinary table reservation. Birthday booking fees are $50 for up to 12 guests or $100 for 13–20 guests, separate from pottery purchases.
3. Take a stroll around Atlantic Avenue
Pair your studio visit with a look around downtown. Atlantic Avenue offers places to eat, shop, and explore, so your painting session can be the center of a bigger outing. Browse the Downtown Delray Beach guide for current ideas and details.
Leave room in your schedule for parking and walking to your stops. Saturday plans are more enjoyable when you aren’t racing from one reservation to the next.
4. Explore Old School Square’s arts and events
Old School Square sits at Atlantic and Swinton Avenues and is part of downtown Delray’s cultural scene. Check its current schedule before your trip and see whether an exhibition or event fits your day. The official Old School Square website is a useful starting point.
For studio happenings and seasonal plans, visit our upcoming events page. Event hours and booking requirements can differ from an ordinary painting visit.
5. Try a date night with something to show for it
Dinner is lovely. Dinner plus a painted keepsake gives you a story. Paint matching pieces, surprise each other with a design, or choose completely different projects and compare the results. It’s an easy way to give the evening something playful to revolve around.
Our pottery painting date night page has more inspiration. Regular Friday and Saturday studio hours are 11 AM–10 PM; choose a reservation time that leaves enough time to finish painting.
6. Keep an indoor idea ready for a rainy day
If the weather changes your outdoor plans, pottery painting can give the day a new direction. Check availability before heading over, especially on a busy Saturday. Indoor plans are popular when everyone else is watching the same rain clouds.
